What is the Megalina?
The Megalania is an “extinct species” of giant monitor lizards that used to roam Southern Australia.
Nicknamed The Giant Ripper Lizard
This was only about 30,000 years ago as compared to dinosaurs which have been extinct for 65 million years.
Because of this time period, it is believed that these giant beast shared Australia with humans for thousands of years.
Even with all of the dangerous creatures to have lived in Australia, the Megalania is Largest Carnivore there in the last 2 million years

Kathmandu, July 21: Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Bhim Prasad Acharya has said tourism is a major base for country’s development and it should be linked to the holistic development of the country.


Inaugurating the Tourism Journalists’ Forum (TJF) Nepal amidst a programme in the capital city on Monday, Minister Acharya said media has a great role and responsibility in promoting tourism; and urged the forum of tourism journalists to do their best to promote country’s tourism by abiding by journalism ethnic. He pledged maximum support and cooperation to the Forum on behalf of the government.


Similarly, former Tourism Minister Ram Kumar Shrestha argued the tourism sector has been in shadow as it is not in the government priority. He underlined the need of promoting rural tourism to improve the living standard of farmers.


The TJF new working committee presided by Shiva Adhikari of Gantabya Nepal comprises Bikash Lohani of Rastriya Samachar Samiti ( RSS) as first vice- president, Madu Jung Pandey of Rajdhani daily as the second vice-president, Nawaraj Adhikari of Nagarik daily as general secretary, Sangam Baniya of News-24 Television as secretary and Prakash Khaling of Shikhar Post fortnightly as treasurer.


On the occasion, Chairman of Trekking Agencies Association of Nepal, Ramesh Dhamala, laid emphasis on taking agriculture and tourism, major determining factors of country’s economy, together.


Chairman of the Tourist Guide Association of Nepal, Hareram Baral, said tourism is the backbone of economic development. So, an effective course of action should be adopted for its promotion.


TAAN former general secretary Mohan Lamsal called for seeking a new destination of promoting country’s tourism.


TJF Chair Adhikari said the constitution of the forum was for developing tourism journalism which has not got proper space in Nepali media. Tourism journalism award and journalists welfare fund instituted

Kathmandu, July 21: Visiting UN Undersecretary General and Head of the Department of Peacekeeping Operations of the United Nations, Hervé Ladsous, paid a courtesy call on Acting Prime Minister Bam Dev Gautam at the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers (OPMCM) on Monday.


On the occasion, Acting Prime Minister hailed the role the UN played to maintain global peace, and said Nepal would continuously assist in peace keeping mission.


Nepal has been participating in the UN peace keeping mission with its armies and the Nepal Army has showed competence in the mission too.


Undersecretary Ladsous reminded that Nepal which is in the UN peace keeping mission for 60 years made significant contributions to establishing peace in Golden Height and the South Sudan. He admired the courage and professional behaviour of the Nepal Army, said the OPMCM.


Meanwhile, the UN Undersecretary Ladsous paid a courtesy call on Chief of Army Staff, Gaurav Shumsher Rana, at the Army Headquarters on Monday itself.


According to NA’s Directorate of Public Relations, the issues relating to Nepal’s contribution to the world peace in line with the UN principles, and the areas to expand for future cooperation were discussed during the meeting.

Namrata Shrestha Sex Scandal

Namrata Shrestha is in the top of the news these days with the release of her latest movie “Mero Euta Saathi Chha”.  I haven’t seen the movie yet but I have heard that it is a cocktail of Hollywood, Bollywood and Korean movies. She had shown her acting potential in her last movie  â€œSano Sansar”.


This post is not about her acting or movies but about a 8 minutes video circulating in the internet recently. I am not much sure, but the dimple of the girl on the video resembles that of Namrata. The girl in the video seems to be well skilled in what she was doing. Although the couple are talking in English it sounds pretty much like Nepali ascent. The girl, although looking a bit drunk, is well aware of the video recording as the flash lights are turned on. At some point, she tells “turn it off please…. its disturbing”.

Bhuwan KC son getting married in the USA

The son of actor Bhuwan KC from his first wife, Bijaya KC, Vivek KC is getting married in the USA. Bhuwan is flying to the USA to attend the marriage ceremony to be held on July 4. Bhuwan’s first wife Bijaya has been living in the USA for a long time. Vivek KC is marrying another US resident girl, Natasha KC.


Bijaya and Bhuwan’s daughter Kajal KC was married in Nepal in 2011. The high profile marriage was attended by high level political leaders including the ex-king Gyanendra.  Bhuwan had named his production company Kajal Films after his daughter.


Bhuwan’s younger son, Anmol KC, is the son of his second wife Sushmita KC (Bomjom). In a latest rumor, Sushmita is also getting married to an Indian businessman while, Bhuwan is told to be in a look out for a new wife. Rumor of the relationship between Bhuwan and actress Jiya KC is also a hot topic in Nepali film industry.

Shree Krishana Shrestha and Sweta Khadka wedding date fixed – July 7

The date of the marriage of the love-birds of the Nepali film industry, Shree Krishna Shrestha and Sweta Khadka, has been fixed to be held on July 7, 2014.  That is almost a month after Shree Krishna and Sweta had confirmed the long-time rumor of their affair. Last year, the couple had hinted about the upcoming marriage but, it took almost a year before they fixed the date.



Shree Krishna debuted Sweta in his home production movie ‘Kaha Bhetiyala‘. The success of the movie paved way for the success of the love between them. They are also running a hotel business together and their second movie, ‘Kohinoor’ is also ready for the release.

Shabir Shrestha celebrated birthday at the set of Tathastu

The ‘Tathastu’ director Shabir Shrestha celebrated his birthday at the sets of the movie. The movie currently on floor features actress Rekha Thapa in lead role. The lead actors Kishor Khatiwada, Subash Thapa, Rekha Thapa, director Samjhana Upreti Rauniar and journalists were present at the celebration.


Shabir Shrestha debuted as a director in Rekha Film’s movie ‘Hamesha‘. The success of his first movie established him as a successful director. Rekha’s another movie ‘Kali‘ further reinforced him as a good director. In the mean time, he also directed ‘Ishara‘ and ‘Aadhi Bato’ (released earlier this year).

Shabir and Rekha are considered good friends and Rekha calls him ‘dai’ (a big brother). Rekha who had recently told that she won’t be doing any movie out of her home production, had agreed to do Shabir’s home production ‘Tathastu’. ‘Tathastu’ shooting had started last week.
