Inaugurating the Tourism Journalists’ Forum (TJF) Nepal amidst a programme in the capital city on Monday, Minister Acharya said media has a great role and responsibility in promoting tourism; and urged the forum of tourism journalists to do their best to promote country’s tourism by abiding by journalism ethnic. He pledged maximum support and cooperation to the Forum on behalf of the government.
Similarly, former Tourism Minister Ram Kumar Shrestha argued the tourism sector has been in shadow as it is not in the government priority. He underlined the need of promoting rural tourism to improve the living standard of farmers.
The TJF new working committee presided by Shiva Adhikari of Gantabya Nepal comprises Bikash Lohani of Rastriya Samachar Samiti ( RSS) as first vice- president, Madu Jung Pandey of Rajdhani daily as the second vice-president, Nawaraj Adhikari of Nagarik daily as general secretary, Sangam Baniya of News-24 Television as secretary and Prakash Khaling of Shikhar Post fortnightly as treasurer.
On the occasion, Chairman of Trekking Agencies Association of Nepal, Ramesh Dhamala, laid emphasis on taking agriculture and tourism, major determining factors of country’s economy, together.
Chairman of the Tourist Guide Association of Nepal, Hareram Baral, said tourism is the backbone of economic development. So, an effective course of action should be adopted for its promotion.
TAAN former general secretary Mohan Lamsal called for seeking a new destination of promoting country’s tourism.
TJF Chair Adhikari said the constitution of the forum was for developing tourism journalism which has not got proper space in Nepali media. Tourism journalism award and journalists welfare fund instituted
