Jajarkot, Aug. 12: Most of the schools of Jajarkot district, which had charged Rs 5,000 from each student for character certificate, have returned the money after the Rastriya Samachar Samiti (RSS) published the news about this on August 5. The schools returned the money on Monday after the District Education Office, Jajarkot, send a letter to the schools and called the principals at the DEO and asked them to return the money. The Shiva Shankar Higher Secondary School, Jagatipur, has returned the money of 42 students. Similarly, Pancha Bhayar Secondary School, Khagenkot Jikuwa, Janaki Secondary School, Khagenkot Maide, and Pajaru Secondary School have returned the money of six, seven and nine students respectively.
Principal of Shiva Shankar Higher Secondary School, Jagatipur, Ramlal Acharya, said that they have returned the remaining amount after taking Rs 1,700 from each student for the character certificate. District Education Officer Bishnu Narayan Shrestha said that the Office has directed the schools to charge only Rs 1,700 for the certificate. The students having poor financial status were deprived of getting the character certificate and higher education after the schools charged high fees in a monopolistic manner.
