Bad timing of ‘Mukhauta’ release, World Cup stole the charm

Multi-starrer, huge publicity, big red-carpet premier – all these things didn’t help viewers to go to the theater to watch the movie ‘Mukhauta’. One of the most plausible reason – the date of the release and the start of once-in-four-years, FIFA World Cup happened at the same time.


The movie release date’s two weeks delay has been bad omen for the movie. In a report, the first day of release occupancy was only 30 percent. The reason a movie featuring well known artists like Rajesh Hamal, Rabin Tamang, Sunil Thapa, Nisha Adhikari wasn’t attractive to the audience might be more than just the World Cup.


Let’s analyze some of the reasons the movie doesn’t seem attractive:

The World Cup schedule – The games are scheduled at night-time in Nepal. There is enough excitement and entertainment at home so, they are not motivated to visit theaters.
Lack of catchy music in the movie. Music does play a role in attracting people to theaters.
The posters and promo give a hint that it is similar to another movie, a flop one – ‘Chhadke’. When comparing the two posters, I can see they are similarly crowded and are made on similar design theme.
The trailer (promo) and poster focuses more in faces than in plot. As a viewer, you have no clue what the movie is about. There is nothing that motivates a viewer to watch more of the trailer.

Rajesh Hamal Poem recital in Australia. Rajesh Hamal recently celebrated his 50th birthday and Silver Jubilee of his contribution to the Nepali film industry in Sydney, Australia. In the program Rajesh Hamal recited a poem written on his own life.The poem is a true representation of what Rajesh thinks himself as. He has summarized his life as an actor, his belief and his future direction. You can listen to the Nepali poem in the following video. We wrote the full review of ‘Lanka’ earlier. The movie produced by Om Prakash Agrawal for Chandika Films was one of the hit movies of 2012. The movie was released on November 16, 2012. The movie was also shown in foreign countries like Qatar. While Shyam Bhattarai had made hit movies like ‘Lanka’ for Rekha, Rekha later accused Shyam of not knowing anything about directing and snatched directorship of ‘Himmatwali’ from him.
Rekha’s movies with similar names and similar roles were released consequently creating confusion on the characters she had played.

Rajesh Hamal talks Madhu Bhattarai and everything about his love life

In an interview for the promotion of his upcoming movie ‘Hasiya’, Rajesh Hamal visited the studio of News24 television with the producer Milan Chams. At the time when Rajesh is in the final stage of marriage, the talk was more focused on his life rather than the movie.

Nepali Actress Arunima Lama

Another Arumima is debuting as an actress in the Nepali industry in ‘Kina Kina’, Arunima Lama. A lot of actresses debut in a lot of movies, but Arunima is special because she is debuting in director Ukesh Dahal’s movie. - 
Ukesh is known for making Nepali movies in adult themes. His previous movie ‘Palpalma’ got an ‘A’ certificate and it had became a successful movie. In ‘Kina Kina’ Ukesh has features Rajesh Hamal in a role of an artists who does nude arts. After a long search of an actress who could do a nude scene, Arunima Lama was selected to feature in the movie. At first, Dahal told that the actress was a fiction character Dil Kumari Waiba from Mustang. But, later it was revealed that the actress is Arunima Lama. 

In ‘Kina Kina’ Arumima sheds all her clothes in front of the artist Rajesh Hamal. The censor board has approve the scene in which Arunima has covered her parts by her hands and hair. Although the movie was refused to pass in its original form, the board has passed it after the film makers comply with the Board’s demands of reducing the durations of kiss scenes. The movie is going to be released in Shrawan last week. In addition to Rajesh and Arunima the movie also features Karishma Manandhar, Raj Timilsina, Sashi Khadka and others.

Showing body to gain media attraction is considered in general to be unsustainable in film industry; let’s hope, Arunima’s case will be different.
